Preparation of a Ni-P-nanoPTFE Composite Coating on the Surface of GCr15 Steel for Spinning Rings via a Defoamer and Transition Layer and Its Wear and Corrosion Resistance

Abstract: In this study, a method of preparing a Ni-P-nanoPTFE composite coating on the surface of GCr15 steel for spinning rings is proposed. The method incorporates a defoamer into the plating solution to inhibit the agglomeration of nano-PTFE particles and pre-deposits a Ni-P transition layer to reduce the possibility of leakage coating. Meanwhile, the effect of varying the PTFE emulsion content in the bath on the micromorphology, hardness, deposition rate, crystal structure, and PTFE content of the composite coating… Show more

“…The addition of 1 wt% defoamer to the coating can increase the impact strength from 30 kg•cm to 40 kg•cm after modification (Table 3). The effect of defoamer on improving the mechanical properties of the coating is consistent with that reported in the related literature [25]. Figure 7 shows the WCAs of the coatings with varying amounts of defoamer.…”

“…This material is also widely used as a base material for the production of composite materials [54][55][56]. However, a series of studies aimed at analyzing the influence of the percentages of the base and reinforcing elements on the final properties of the materials are necessary to produce high-quality composites.…”

“…Thus, experiments are conducted to identify specific changes in the behavior of the composite at different concentrations of the PTFE base [54,56] and other materials [41]. PTFE is formed in different ways to obtain composites with different degrees of stiffness [55]. The authors [57] conduct studies aimed at analyzing the influence of the content of reinforcing materials on the wear rate and tribological characteristics when using two types of environmental lubricants (water and glycerin).…”
