Preparation, characterization and optical properties ofα-Fe2O3 films by sol-spinning process

Abstract: a-Fe203 films were prepared by sol-spinning process using ferric nitrate as a precursor and 2-methoxy ethanol as the solvent. The films were grown on various substrates by spin coating and were subjected to different annealing temperatures. These were characterized using X-ray and fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The films showed crystallinity at about 500°C. The surface morphology of these films was studied using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) which revealed cracks for films having thicknes… Show more

“…Iron oxide nano-particles were prepared by the sol-gel method using ferric nitrate (Fe(NO 3 ) 3 • 9H 2 O 99.99% purity, Aldrich Co.) as a precursor and 2-methoxy ethanol (C 3 H 8 O 2 ) as a solvent [28]. Polyaniline in emeraldine oxidation state in powder form was prepared via chemical oxidation of aniline monomer (Aldrich, reagent grade) with ammonium persulfate (NH 4 ) 2 S 2 O 8 (Aldrich reagent grade) in hydrochloric acid [29] Rigaku Rotaflex Diffratometer using Cu K α radiation (1.54 Å).…”

“…Maghemite nanoparticles were prepared using the sol-gel method using ferric nitrate (Fe(NO 3 ) 3 .9H 2 O) as the precursor and 2-methoxy ethanol as the solvent [5][6][7]. The powder obtained using this method was suspended in distilled water and stirred using a magnetic stirrer for 5 h. The above suspension was placed in a sonicator for 10 min.…”

“…The most commonly studied magnetic nanomaterials are the oxides, in the form of ferrites and substituted ferrites. They are prepared using various processes like hydrothermal precipitation, sol-gel, sonochemical methods, sputtering and electron beam evaporation [3][4][5][6]. Among the standard methods, the sol-gel method has the advantage of good composition control and a low processing temperature.…”

“…In the second method of preparation, the iron oxide nanoparticles prepared by sol-gel process 17 were dispersed in water:ethanol mixture in the ratio 1:2. About 0.2 ml ͑0.19 g͒ of pyrrole monomer was added to this in an ultrasonic bath followed by the addition of 4 ml of 0.4% polyvinyl alcohol ͑PVA͒ solution which acts as a binder.…”
