Preparation and thermoelectric transport properties of high-performance p-type Bi2Te3 with layered nanostructure

Abstract: High performance Bi2Te3 bulk materials with layered nanostructure have been prepared by combining melt spinning technique with spark plasma sintering, and their thermoelectric transport properties are investigated. The electrical conductivity increases greatly and the lattice thermal conductivity decreases significantly with the increase of the roller’s linear speed. These lead to a great improvement in the thermoelectric figure of merit (ZT). The maximum ZT value of 1.35 is obtained at 300K for the sample whi… Show more

“…Usually, inorganic materials, such as PbTe, Bi 2 Te 3 and Cu 2 Se, have ordered crystalline structures and better electron transport than organic materials. [6][7][8][9][10] In conventional conducting polymers, the inter-chain and intra-chain π-π conjugations form the carrier transport channels. The carrier transport is principally controlled by the inter-chain and intra-chain hopping processes and follows the variable range hopping model.…”
