“…Most studies carried out on addition of silica particles into polyurethanes have mainly focused on the physical and mechanical behavior of these composites [36][37][38][39][40][41]. Nevertheless, there are rare reports in published literature reporting the permeation properties of gases through fumed silica-filled PU membranes, while most of them are related to sol-gel silica-filled polyurethanes [42,43].…”

“…It is well known that surface roughness and surface energy affect the WCA. Therefore, the linkage of ASiFS and the WPU matrix changed the surface characteristics of the hybrid materials and led to a lower surface energy [32,33]. However, it also can be seen from Fig.…”

“…The introduction of a siloxane unit to form as a crosslinkable polyurethane/siloxane matrix can improve the mechanical and surface hydrophobic properties of the WPU films [17][18][19].The alkoxysilane such as 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTES) was incorporated quantitatively into the WPU chains by its reaction with the isocyanate end groups of the WPU prepolymer and the inserted alkoxy end groups underwent crosslinking reactions at room temperature, during the water evaporation process, to form a stable siloxane linked network. In addition, alkoxysilane, in combination with silica or Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS), can also be incorporated into the crosslinkable polyurethane/siloxane matrix [20][21][22][23]. However, for the WUPU system, The isocyanate termini were capped with acrylate monomer such as 2-hydroethylacrylate (HEA), pentaerythritol triacrylate(PETA), it is a little difficult to incorporate a certain amount of alkoxysilane like APTES into WUPU chain to form crosslinkable polyurethane/siloxane films.…”
