[20]. In many industrial applications, the stability of graphene oxide dispersions plays a crucial role for the proper solvent preparation. Therefore, many researchers have done the studies to understand the dispersion behavior and to improve the dispersion stability. Konios et al. [21] prepared GO and reduced graphene oxide (rGO) dispersions with the different solvents and they showed that the GO and rGO samples forms a stable dispersion with the deionized-water, ethylene glycol and N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP). Taha-Tijerina et al. [22] prepared a dispersion with the deionized-water, ethylene glycol, ethanol and mineral oil and they illustrated that the GO samples forms a strong stable dispersion with the deionized-water and ethylene glycol. Graphene oxide-deionized water nano-fluids are more attractive options because of the formation of fairly strong stable dispersions with graphene oxide in the deionized water and the elimination of toxic solvents such as NMP.The quality of the dispersions including "strong stability" can be represented with some criteria such as zeta potential value, thermal and electrical conductivity, pH, and particle size. Therefore, many studies have been done to analyze the GO dispersion properties. Solvothermal Reduction of Graphite Oxide Using Alcohols

In the present work, we use either ethanol or ethylene glycol as reducing agents through the solvothermal method for graphite oxide reduction. A sulfuric acid treatment before the reduction process was also applied to evaluate its influence on the epoxy group ring-opening reaction. Reduced graphene oxide (RGO) samples were obtained with morphology like crumpled sheets. X-ray diffraction analyses (XRD) showed that the RGO produced via ethylene glycol (EG) reduction followed by treatment with sulfuric acid (RGOEGH) presented the largest d-spacing (0.4114 nm). For reduction with ethanol (RGOEt), the d-spacing value was 0.3883 nm. Infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) results indicated that RGOEt exhibited very low-intensity bands related to oxygenated functional groups, suggesting a high reduction degree, while the sample reduced with EG contained oxygen group bands in the spectrum that disappeared when H 2 SO 4 pretreatment was performed. Thermal gravimetric analyses (TGA) results showed that the samples present high stability and confirmed the reduction process. Moreover, the synthesized RGO sheets were comparable to those produced via more expensive and toxic methodologies.

RESUMO -O grafeno tem atraído considerável interesse por suas propriedades diferenciadas. Os processos de preparação envolvem diferentes metodologias, que se baseiam na produção do óxido de grafite (GO) e sua posterior redução, com a formação do grafeno. O presente trabalho apresenta uma avaliação dos parâmetros de síntese do GO, com ênfase na relação molar grafite/oxidante e concentração de H₂O₂. A metodologia sugerida por Hummers, que se baseia na oxidação do grafite empregando uma mistura oxidante de nitrato de sódio e H₂SO₄, foi utilizada na obtenção do GO. Os resultados de difração de raios-X mostraram que as amostras preparadas apresentaram picos característicos do GO. As análises de espectroscopia de absorção no infravermelho confirmaram a presença dos grupos funcionais oxigenados O-H, C=O e C-O, enquanto que a espectroscopia Raman permitiu identificar o grau de ordenamento e defeitos na estrutura. Os óxidos preparados apresentaram diferentes graus de espaçamento entre as folhas.
