amido tem dois importantes grupos funcionais: o grupo -OH que é suscetível a reações de substituição e a ligação glicosídica C−O−C, suscetível à quebra de cadeia. O grupo hidroxila da glicose tem caráter nucleofílico [1] .A amilose e a amilopectina, constituintes do amido, são formadas por unidades do tipo (1,4)-α-D-glicose na forma piranosídica. A amilose é essencialmente linear e, apesar disso, apresenta uma estrutura que dificulta sua associação regular com outras cadeias, formando a parte IntroduçãoA crescente preocupação com o desenvolvimento sustentável tem despertado a atenção da indústria para os biopolímeros derivados de recursos agrícolas renováveis. O amido é bastante estudado nessa área por ser natural, barato e renovável.O amido é um material de reserva encontrado em grãos, tubérculos e raízes, constituído pela mistura dos polissacarídeos amilose e amilopectina. A molécula de Resumo: Poliestireno (PS) é um dos materiais descartáveis mais usados no nosso cotidiano, mas ele não se decompõe facilmente. A adição de amido de mandioca ao PS pode melhorar a sua degradabilidade, tendo em vista ser o amido um polímero biodegradável. O objetivo deste trabalho foi desenvolver blendas de PS e (amido termoplástico) TPS usando dois diferentes plastificantes: glicerol e óleo de buriti, sendo esse óleo um plastificante natural e original para o amido. As blendas PS/TPS foram preparadas em diversas composições por casting e em seguida caracterizadas por termogravimetria (TG), calorimetria exploratória diferencial (DSC), análise termomecânica (TMA) e ressonância magnética nuclear (RMN) 13 C. As blendas PS/TPS com óleo de buriti apresentaram uma contínua redução em suas T g e T a . Nas blendas com glicerol esses parâmetros permaneceram praticamente constantes. As blendas também foram submetidas a testes de degradação no solo e depois analisadas por TG e RMN. A análise das blendas PS/TPS com óleo de buriti mostrou que houve um aumento da perda de massa nas curvas TG. Nos espectros de RMN 13 C, todos os picos referentes ao amido desapareceram, depois do teste de aterro, sugerindo que houve consumo do amido das blendas por microorganismos. De acordo com as análises realizadas, a adição do TPS produzido com óleo de buriti pode melhorar a degradabilidade do PS. ObstractBiodegradable polymers have become part of the realm of polymer science with specially when associated to renewable sources. Unraveling the plasticizer effect of natural occurring fatty acids in the Brazilian Cerrado on amylose oligomers was aimed in this work in an aqueous environment. Since the interactions within a material are of extreme importance to its molecular behavior, the main focus was directed to the molecular interactions whether intra or intermolecular type. Molecular Mechanics and Dynamics were carried out to shed light on this issue. The simulation results suggest the fatty acids could perform as efficient plasticizers for more complex polysaccharides such as starch. It also highlights the importance the solvation on the system stabilization, thus contributing to a clearer understanding of the chemical interactions role on plasticization. Our results provide a basis for simulating more complex systems such as a clay-mineral which will culminate in the parameterization for mesoscale studies.

Starch as an inexpensive and renewable source has been used as a filler for environmental friendly plastics for about two decades. In this study, glycerol was used as a plasticizer for starch to enhance the dispersion and the interfacial affinity in thermoplastic starch (TPS)/ polybutene-1(PB-1) blend. PB-1 was melt blended with TPS using a single screw extrusion process and molded using injection molding process to investigate the rheological and mechanical properties of these blends. Rheological properties were studied using a capillary rheometer, and the Bagley's correction was performed. Mechanical analysis (stressstrain curves) was performed using Testometric M350-10 kN. The rheological properties showed that the melt viscosity of the blend is less than that of PB-1, and the flow activation energy at a constant shear stress of the blend increases with increasing glycerol content in the blend. The mechanical experiments showed that both stress and strain at break of the blends are less than that of PB-1, whereas the Young's modulus of the most blends is higher than that of PB-1 which confirms the filling role of TPS in the blend.
