Preparation and analysis of electrochromic properties of poly(3,4 ethylene dioxythiophene)

Abstract: The film of PEDOT was prepared in this study via electrochemical polymerization using EDOT as monomer in LiClO4/PC solution. The effects on the properties of the film were surveyed including the deposition voltage and deposition time. The morphology of the film was observed by scanning electron microscopy. The electrochromic kinetics was analyzed by combination of electrochemical workstation and UV-Visible spectrophotometer such as the transmittance, transmittance contrast, coloring efficiency and the respons… Show more

“…The second type of materials including polythiophenes have two colored states and the third class of materials have more than two colored states depending on their redox state. 102 Some conducting polymers like polyaniline 103 and poly(3,4-ethylene dioxythiophene) 104,105 are inherently multi-colored systems and have a wide variety of optoelectronic applications. The mechanism behind electrochromism is a change in pi-electron character with electrochemical oxidation or reduction.…”

“…Some researchers studied the reaction mechanism of the hydrophobic gardenia blue pigment by its intermediates [ 10 , 11 , 12 , 13 ]. However, due to their high polymerization, the water-soluble and hydrophobic gardenia blue pigments have no exact structure and molecular weight [ 14 , 15 , 16 ].…”
