Predictors of smoking relapse after percutaneous coronary intervention in Chinese patients

Abstract: This study may prompt the healthcare providers to focus on the issue of smoking relapse and provide some instructions for identification of the patients with a high-risk of relapse after percutaneous coronary intervention.

“…In participants maintaining smoking abstinence for a month followed by behavioral and pharmacological therapy, relapse rates at 1-year follow up were higher among those with greater nicotine dependence [ 8 ] (measured with FTND). FTND also predicted the success of abstinence imposed by hospitalizations for cardiac problems [ 9 , 10 ] or pregnancy [ 11 ].
