“…Binary and categorical variables were compared between the two groups using Chi-squared tests, and continuous data were analyzed using two-tailed Student’s t -tests. A logistic regression model was then developed using patients from PSU as the training cohort, modeling inpatient mortality as a function of the available patient covariates and admission laboratory parameters, including the markers of severity most commonly reported in the published literature, 11,12 which also reflect clinical practice. Additionally, an interaction term between low eosinophil count and high WBC count was created and tested within the initial model, but was not found to be significant, and was therefore excluded from the final model.…”

“…Three studies with 317 patients were included in the meta‐analysis of risk of recurrent CDI in patients with NGT insertion. The data on the mortality risk of CDI in patients with NGT insertion were limited . Item S2 outlines our search methodology and selection process.…”

“…A total of 268 articles were excluded based on title and abstract indicating that they clearly did not fulfill inclusion criteria on the basis of the type of article, study design, population, or outcome of interest; 54 articles underwent full‐length article review; 46 articles were excluded (8 articles were not observational studies or RCTs and 38 articles did not report the outcomes of interest). Eight articles with 2252 patients assessing clinical outcomes of CDI were identified and included in the data analysis . Of eight studies, five studies with 1467 patients were included in the meta‐analysis of severity or complicated risk of CDI in patients with NGT insertion.…”
