“…Ovarian vascularity, the other 3D ultrasound ovarian parameter studied, was not predictive of poor ovarian response in both univariate and multivariate analysis and was less predictive of the number of oocytes retrieved than AFC. This is in agreement with all of the reported comparative studies that have used 3D ultrasound for blood flow assessment (15,(40)(41)(42). Any reduction in ovarian blood flow may be a late phenomenon, however, as 3D indices of vascularity are similar in women aged %30, 31-35, and 36-40 years, but significantly lower in those aged more than 40 years (43).…”

“…The results from this current study suggest that neither the degree of vascularity nor volume flow within the ovary is predictors of poor ovarian response to controlled ovarian stimulation. Merce et al (17) also evaluated ovarian vascularity using 3D power Doppler before ovarian stimulation, but at downregulation, as predictors of ovarian response during IVF treatment in a group of 65 subjects. Although there was a significant positive relationship with Pearson's correlation coefficients of 0.31 to 0.35 between the ovarian vascular indices and ovarian response in terms of the number of follicles of >10 mm on the hCG day and the number of oocytes retrieved, none of these indices were independent predictors.…”

“…The design of these studies and their methodology vary greatly, with blood flow being measured through the assessment of two-dimensional (2D) pulsed wave Doppler waveform analysis (9,12,13), 2D power Doppler semiquantitative scores (14), and quantitative three-dimensional (3D) power Doppler angiography (15)(16)(17)(18). The endpoints also vary, with many studies reporting the total number of follicles evident before oocyte collection or the number of eggs retrieved, and only one of these studies (9) reported poor ovarian response as a primary outcome measure.…”

“…Although there are many studies examining the correlation of ovarian blood flow with ovarian response during controlled ovarian stimulation11–15 in the literature, studies evaluating the relationship between pre‐treatment ovarian blood flow and OHSS in particular have been limited. Using pulse‐wave power Doppler, Agrawal et al .…”
