According to the level of simplification that can be made, the numerical approaches for underwater noise simulations can be divided into compressible Navier-Stokes equation-based approaches, Lighthill equation-based approaches, Ffowcs-Williams-Hawkings equation-based approaches [3,4], Helmholtz equation-based approaches [5], and hybrids of any two. These equations are usually implemented by either a finite volume method in which the propeller is modelled by a rotating boundary [4,6] or by the boundary element method (BEM) [3,7] in which the propeller is represented by sources and dipoles on the boundary surface.…”
