Prediction of critical micelle concentration of cationic surfactants using connectivity indices

Abstract: Relationship for predicting Logcmc for cationic surfactants having chloride as counterion from only molecular connectivity indices was found. It is suggested that the index 0 χ ν includes some information about hydrophobicity while indices 4 χ pc and 4 χ ν pc include some information about hydrophilicity of the cationic surfactants studied. The structures of 23 compounds used for the correlation are quite diverse. Keywords Cationic surfactants • Chloride • QSPR • cmc • Molecular connectivity indices Abbreviati… Show more

“…Aggregation The cmc values of the gemini surfactants investigated are lower than the values of corresponding monomeric ones. Thus, the cmc value of 12-MOH-O-MOH-12 (Table 1) is one order of magnitude lower than the values of 16 mM and 21 mM reported for N-dodecyl-Nhydroxyethyl-N,N-dimethylammonium bromide [38] and for N-dodecyl-N,N,Ntrimethylammonium chloride [39], respectively.…”

“…In the process of searching for the simple relationship were used, just as in the previous papers [8, 12], ten indices: five molecular connectivity indices and five valence molecular connectivity indices, from zeroth to fourth order in each case. These indices were calculated for the compounds studied (Fig.…”
