Prediction model of surface roughness parameters of structural steel created by plasma arc cutting via full factor experiment

Abstract: This article is focused on the prediction model of surface roughness parameters of structural steel created by plasma arc cutting. Optimization of the cutting process is very important from both quality and economy point of view. The presented paper shows the carrying out of the experiment with the specification of the design of experiments method. In these experiments, the influence of three factors ‐ the plasma current, the traverse speed, and plasma gas pressure was observed. Experimental material was selec… Show more

“…Thanks to the lubricating properties of MWCNTs in different proportions added to the composite, it has been observed that these reduce delamination by improving some situations such as fiber bending and shearing, and plastic deformation that occur during drilling. Therefore, to acquire a good result, it is necessary to better understand both the material properties and the machining process [15][16][17].…”

“…Most of the previous research on plasma arc cutting has been aimed at improving the cutting efficiency of metal sheets. Parameters such as operating current, gas flow rate, and ignition distance are usually treated as variable parameters [10][11]. The dimensional accuracy of the kerf, the surface quality, and the heat-affected area are often used as evaluation indicators [12][13][14].…”

“…It appears that the WEDM process can enhance or degrade the tribological characteristics of the machined surface of the component. Selecting optimum process parameters and materials for achieving a better machined surface is always challenging [22,23]. AISI P20 tool steel is a specialpurpose tool steel that is used to produce dies and fixtures.…”
