“…Risk factors for recurrence of malignant melanoma in patients with negative sentinel lymph node biopsy Dear Editors, Sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) is a standard procedure in the staging of cutaneous malignant melanoma, and guides decisions regarding adjuvant therapy [1,2]. Sentinel lymph node biopsy is generally associated with few complications [3,4] and was initially implemented to avoid the increased morbidity associated with radical dissection, which, in the current era of adjuvant programmed cell death protein 1 inhibitor (PD-1-inhibitor) and targeted therapies is performed mostly for macrometastasis [5]. The value of SLNB as a prognostic marker [6,7] may be reduced by the existence of false negative results, which have been reported in 2.0-18.4 % of patients [8][9][10][11][12].…”

“…Patients with a follow-up of less than six months were excluded. The SLNB procedure, indications for SLNB as well as histological examination of SLNs were described previously [2,3]. Comparisons between the clinicopathologic characteristics of the patient groups were performed using Student's t-test and chi-square analysis.…”

“…Vizsgálatukban a betegek 20,4%-ánál volt észlelhető valamilyen szövődmény. A leggyakoribb, SNB-hez társu-ló morbiditás esetükben a posztoperatív seromaképződés volt, az esetek 19,6%-ában fordult elő, és szignifikánsan gyakrabban fordult elő a lágyékhajlatban, valamint férfiak esetében [28].…”

“…As the general role of smoking regarding melanoma prognosis is unclear, smoking is associated in general with many types of postoperative complications in various types of surgery. In a recently published paper by Ona‐Diana Persa et al . in a cohort of 615 patients, they identified smoking as an independent risk factor for seroma formation following sentinel node biopsy for the first time.…”
