Predicted effect-site concentration of propofol and sufentanil for gynecological laparoscopic surgery

Abstract: based on the anesthetic depth assessed by the clinical signs and BIS monitoring, the predicted effect-site propofol concentrations for the maintenance of anesthesia in patients undergoing gynecologic laparoscopy were similar in those administered adequate anesthesia at the skin incision during TCI.

“…In our study, we calculated the Ce of propofol and delivered propofol with the TCI machine. Schuttler and Kloos (1988) reported a Ce ROC of 1.59 μg ml −1 after 131 min of TCI propofol infusion, and Jung and Yang (2011) reported a Ce ROC of 1.4 μg ml −1 and Ce LOC of 3.4 μg ml −1 with the Schnider model [ 27 28 ]. The values in these reports are all higher than those in our study.…”

“…Significances of distinction were calculated where applicable and are shown as * for p < 0.05, ** for p < 0.01 and ns for not significant. Coloured bars symbolize ranges of clinical concentrations ( A usems et al., ; K apila et al., ; B arash et al., ; Z hao et al., ; J ung et al., ; V ennila et al., ). Concentration‐response curves for the fentanyl‐type opioids are compiled only from data of the higher concentration ranges as predicted by whole‐cell results, for this was an exploratory study.…”

“…19 Recently, sufentanil has been proved effective in some laparoscopic surgery studies, but rarely in laparoscopic myomectomy. 15,20,21 Intraoperative sufentanil has been reported has certain advantages for the patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy, including reducing stress response, improving recovery effect, and decreasing adverse reactions. 21 Hence, we hypothesized that, except for the administration in anesthesia induction, additional intraoperative administration of sufentanil might be a preferable choice for the patients undergoing laparoscopic myomectomy.…”
