“…The recovery and extraction time of the present method is better than other methods (Table 4). LOD in the proposed method is similar to the previous studies (Dams et al 2002;Leong and Huang 2008;Shamsipur and Fattahi 2011;Ranjbari et al 2012;Kohler et al 2013;Fernández et al 2013;Meng et al 2015) (Table 4).…”

“…Although, there are few studies about the analysis of opium alkaloids and opioids drugs in clinical biological samples (Wey and Thorman 2001;Whittington and Kharasch 2003;Saraji et al 2011;Shamsipur and Fattahi 2011;Ranjbari et al 2012;Ahmadi-Jouibari et al 2013), but there are scant data about the analysis of opioids by DLLME-HPLC-PDA in postmortem urine samples. Therefore, in this study, we optimized a DLLME-HPLC-PAD for the extraction and determination of morphine, codeine, and methadone in postmortem urine samples.…”

“…Upon centrifugation of this solution, sedimented phase of chloroform was taken out, evaporated and reconstituted in methanol which was injected into HPLC for analysis. The method was rapid as it consumed less than five minutes for extraction of methadone [20]. Microextraction with packed sorbent was also reported for methadone, EDDP, buprenorphine (BUP) and norbuprenorphine (NBUP) in addition to other drugs of abuse, as described in ref [13].…”

“…Overdose of methadone causes respiratory depression, hypertension, coma and some other symptoms. Various biological samples have been analyzed to monitor methadone levels, including serum (17)(18)(19)(20), plasma (21)(22)(23)(24)(25), whole blood (26), urine (17,18,21,23,24,(26)(27)(28)31), saliva (18,25), EB (14,30) and sweat (25) samples. Due to depressed levels of methadone in biological fluids and especially in EB due to the further dilution of evaporating water which is entrapped in the cooling system of the EB sample collection device, solid phase extraction (14,17,20,22,23,26,27,29,30), liquid phase extraction (25,31), or more sensitive detection like mass spectrometry (MS) method (14,21,22,28,30) has been applied for monitoring of methadone in biological samples.…”
