Combining the advantages of micro-gas turbine generation system (MTGS) and power converters, moreover, comparing the various design ideas for the primary energy of electromagnetic launch technology, we design a primary energy to meet the reliability, stability, safety and portable of electromagnetic launch technology. We discuss the control ideas and methods to be adopted in this system, the first step is to output a stable DC bus voltage through rectification, and then to step up the voltage through a series resonant converter to achieve the desired output voltage. Through theoretical analysis and simulation, it reveals the effect of this load on the performance of MTGS, and the parameter optimization design is combined with the voltage outer loop control strategy to achieve the purpose of outputting stable voltage. We used a ARM controller to implement the control of this system to measure the response curve of the system under different input commands. According to the theoretical analysis, numerical simulation and experimental results, the control strategy designed in this paper can better meet the performance index requirements of micro-gas turbine engine (MTE) and power converter as well as the control method is simple and easy to implement in engineering. The results of this paper confirm the feasibility of this primary energy application for electromagnetic launch technology.

A unique pulse shaping inductor was designed and developed using a modified Bitter magnet configuration, to operate at peak current of 150 kA for duration of 5-10 ms in a Pulse Forming Network (PFN). The inductor was designed with a stack of parallel copper plates in the form of circular discs with a central hole, with GRP insulation plates in between. The design is optimized by electromagnetic finite element techniques for inductance and structural stability. The conducting discs and insulators are clamped together with tie rods between two endplates to provide adequate contact pressure and sufficient mechanical support. The conducting, inter connecting and insulating components were modeled and optimised parametrically for the desired performance and structural integrity. The device was fabricated, assembled and tested with 24 bitter plates for 28 µH inductance. The inductor was integrated with 400 kJ capacitor bank module and tested under static and dynamic condition. Current pulse of peak above 100 kA was generated, with consistent arc-free performance, high reliability and structural stability.

Pulsed alternators integrate kinetic energy storage, electromechanical energy conversion and pulse shaping in one unit, and it is the research focused on the field of pulsed power sources . The electrical excitation and the permanent magnet excitation are contained in one hybrid excitation pulsed generator together in which the advantages of two different excitation types are integrated. The brush slip ring mechanism with low reliability and high maintenance costs can be cancelled. And the electromagnetic field can be adjusted quickly by external electrical excitation source and correspondingly the performance can be quickly adjusted.An all-iron-core hybrid excitation compulsator prototype had been designed, fabricated and optimized. The hybrid excitation concept was validated in the research of compulsator. Although the compulsator researches are mainly focused on the all-air-core electrical excitation topology, there exist some bottleneck technologies which restrict the application of compulsator in actual fields. The hybrid excitation compulsator can decrease the cost, increase the reliability and widen the application scope of compulsator, especially in the middle-low power range. Halbach array is a permanent magnet arrangement structure which is a combination structure of different directions arrays. The Halbach array offers a number of attractive features in comparison with the normal array one. And the air-gap magnetic flux can be increased and the rotor yoke magnetic flux is decreased. Based on it, the Halbach array can be designed on the composite rotor core. A partair-core compulsator which includes an air-core rotor and an ironcore stator was designed. For analyzing the electromagnetic design results, the three dimensional model was built and finite element analysis method was used. The performances simulation results of the Halbach hybrid excitation compulsator were presented.
