“…Despite the benefits of stakeholder collaboration in the context of DM 2 , it is often inhibited (McComb et al, 2016) due to the complex nature of the process and ineffective communication (Saito & Ruhanen, 2017). Furthermore, collaboration can be challenged by the imbalance of power (Frame, Thomas, & Day, 2004) stemming from multistakeholder collaborative entities comprising larger and smaller enterprises with varying levels of resources.…”

Interestingly, many TBs stated their interest in more collaboration as they recognized its importance for effective disaster preparedness and recovery.…”

“…Directly benefitting the local people might be key to avoiding conflicts between them and the PAs, as the benefits to the locals can be substantial, such as tourism-generated income [41]. Understanding the local people's benefits related to the Geopark is essential for striking a balance between conservation goals and local communities' needs [11,42].…”

“…According to Saito and Ruhanen (2017), no tourism organisation, even if it is pre-eminent in the sector, is capable of developing an effective tourist destination in its own right. The formation and development of cooperative relations among stakeholders thus appear as a prerequisite for the development of sustainable tourism (Albrecht, 2013).…”
