This study aim is to gain a deeper understanding of the mechanisms by which snakehead fish extract affects the skin, opening doors for the development of more effective and natural skincare products. The study employs a systematic literature review method using PRISMA strategy, identifying 156 relevant articles through platforms such as PubMed, Google Scholar, Scopus, SINTA, spanning from 2018 to 2023. Findings encompass increased VEGF production and NO levels with snakehead fish extract dosages, wounds healing potential of honey and snakehead fish skin combination in hydrogel formulations, increased fibroblast counts, reduced skin erythema, and decreased wound crust formation. Additionally, marine collagen exhibits promise in skin healing and bone repair. Collagen supplements, whether oral or topical, also prove beneficial in delaying skin aging. The study reveals crucial insights into the potential of snakehead fish extract in skincare and wound healing, supporting the development of more effective and natural skincare products.

Objective: Socket wound healing involves soft tissue cells that play an important role, namely fibroblasts. In the wound-healing process, proteins are needed that can accelerate wound healing, one of which is albumin. Cork fish contains the highest albumin than other fish. Albumin contains natural proteins and collagen that make up the extracellular matrix, which has the role of inducing growth factors, cell migration and adhesion, and tissue regeneration. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of 1%, 3%, 5% and 7% cork fish extract gel on fibroblast cell proliferation in socket wound healing after tooth extraction. Methods: This study was a laboratory experimental study with 30 Wistar rats that were grouped into 5 groups. The treatment group was given cork fish extract gel, namely 1%, 3%, 5% and 7%, and the negative control group was only given base gel was then the tissue was tested using Hematoxylin Eosin to observe fibroblasts on the 3rd, 7th and 14th day. Results: Based on the results of the one-way ANOVA test, it showed that cork fish extract with a concentration of 1%, 3%, 5% and 7% has an effect on fibroblast proliferation in socket wound healing after tooth extraction. Conclusion: Based on the results of the one-way ANOVA test, it showed that 3% cork fish extract had an influence on fibroblast proliferation in healing socket wounds after tooth extraction.

Characterization is the initial stage of standardization to determine the quality of simplicia. The quality of simplicia is influenced by raw materials, manufacturing process, the storage. Snakehead fish from natural ingredients has been shown to contain nutrients that can accelerate wound healing. This study aims to determine the characterization of snakehead fish (Channa striata) and snakehead fish meat simplicia originating from Sungai Itik Village, Kubu Raya Regency, West Kalimantan as raw material for wound healing drug preparations. Characterization was carried out biologically including habitat and morphology, physically including organoleptic, water content, ash content, and acid insoluble ash content, and chemically including protein and albumin qualitative tests. The results of the characterization of snakehead fish come from the waters around the Itik River with environmental conditions that are still not polluted. The head shape of the snakehead fish is like a snakehead, the body is blackish brown with dark band-shaped rows (striata), the belly is white to yellowish-white, and there is a labyrinth. The results of simplicia characterization of snakehead fish meat had a water content of 81.6% and 8.97%, ash content of 0.813% and 5.17%, and acid insoluble ash content of 0.02%. The results of the qualitative test of protein and albumin were declared positive for containing protein and albumin. Based on the results of the characterization that has been carried out, it can be obtained snakehead fish meat simplicia with good quality.
