Show more

“…In this study, we did not use a control group; however, when observing the P1-N1-P2-N2 complex mean amplitude on children without auditory complaints evidenced by Agostinho-Pesse and Alvarenga (21), we noticed higher amplitudes. The amplitude can be related to the amount of neural structure that participates in the response, being proportional to the synaptic activation magnitude (22,23).…”

“…Some authors point out that the amplitude of the response relates directly to the amount of neural structure involved in the reply, being proportional to the magnitude of synaptic activation (Melo, Biaggio, et al, ; Sleifer, ). A relation between age and responses in latency and amplitude is also verified in humans.…”

“…However, in our literature review, we did not find studies comparing potential responses with attention, memory, and discrimination tests. These tests complement are objective and non‐invasive and complement the routine diagnostic evaluations for auditory changes (Junqueira & Colafêmina, ; Melo, Biaggio, Rechia, & Sleifer, ; Melo, Sleifer, Rechia, & Biaggio, ).…”

“…Both the amplitude and latency of these components change during maturation of auditory cortical circuits. The earliest components are called P1 and N1 and are already present in newborns (Cunningham, Nicol, Zecker, & Kraus, 2000;Melo, Biaggio, Rechia, & Sleifer, 2016). Latency of the P1 component shows a steady decrease until it stabilizes in adulthood (D. R. Moore, 2002;Valerie L Shafer, Yan, & Datta, 2011;V.…”
