“…Conclusions regarding the PCO of other races cannot be made from this study, although PCO in the Asian population has been well-reported [20,23,26]. Our study may have been limited by the paucity of female femurs available, although a power analysis was performed suggesting adequate sample size.…”

“…Johal et al [23] found a smaller PCO in Chinese individuals compared to a Western population, corroborating the notion that differences in PCO exist between races. Wang et al studied 50 male and 50 female Chinese patients and demonstrated that the average PCO of Chinese females (25.80 mm ± 2.71 mm) was significantly smaller than that of Chinese males (27.32 mm ± 2.34 mm), but these authors did not standardize their measurements using the width of the femoral diaphysis and had a very limited population [26]. Our results support those and suggest that PCO is relatively independent of sex, substantiating an MRI study that used standardized measurements [22].…”

“…Johal et al in his study showed that PCO ratio was found to be 0.44 in western population [4] . Wang et al demonstrated a significantly greater PCO in Chinese population than western population with a value of 0.47 in females and 0.46 in males [5] . The PCO:FD ratio in our study is 1 indicating that PCO is higher in Indian Population.…”

“…In our study restoration of PCO was important than LEJL measurement. Importance of PCO Restoration after TKR is that it is essential to provide stability in flexion and optimise the range of motion [4,5] . This Variation according to ethinicity is also shown by Wang et al Study with Chinese Population [5] .…”
