Possibilities of Land Administration Domain Model (Ladm) Implementation in Nigeria

Abstract: ABSTRACT:LADM covers essential information associated components of land administration and management including those over water and elements above and below the surface of the earth. LADM standard provides an abstract conceptual model with three packages and one sub-package. LADM defined terminology for a land administration system that allows a shared explanation of different formal customary or informal tenures. The standard provides the basis for national and regional profiles and enables the combination … Show more

“…Thus, the paper presents a novel and challenging approach to geographic data modelling, which may affect data analysis and decision-making in geographic information-using domains but again no specific consideration for marine Georegulation and temporal integration for a holistic data model. The published work of Babalola et al, (2015), on Land Administration Domain Model was a pioneers review focusing on LADM standards for land management, agreed that time should be added to 3D to manage land use complexity, concludes that the design and development process for ISO 19152:2012, temporal schema should be used to achieve research's goal, sadly the work gave no considerations to marine environment on the proposed time integration or addition.…”

“…The model was developed, in part, with the problems of data updating and system upgrading as core drivers [64]. The model found application and profile development (or comparison against existing systems) in many contexts [65][66][67][68]. Accompanying LADM was the Social Tenure Domain Model (STDM), intended as a more generalized version of LADM, sympathetic to the needs of contexts with customary, communal, and other non-Western land tenure types [69].…”

“…Customary laws were used in the communities and statutory laws were enacted to allow land transaction between the indigenes and non-indigenes (along the lines of hybrid adaptation theory) [100][101][102]. The only formal title was freehold which created more avenues for land to be acquired by the European traders [103]. At independence in 1960, two scenarios resulted: in the southern regions, customary law prevailed and chiefs administered the land, while in northern regions, a Land Tenure Law of 1962 was enacted [101].…”
