Positive Balance Recovery in Ischemic Post-Stroke Patients with Delayed Access to Physical Therapy

Abstract: Background. Since patient’s prognosis after stroke depends on its severity, brain location, and type early intervention is strongly recommended. Objective. We aimed to determine whether it is still possible to improve balance in chronic patients, who suffered Intracerebral Hemorrhagic Strokes (ICHS) or Ischemic Strokes (IS), after later intervention. Methods. 34 patients who had unilateral ICHS or IS and involved the motor cortex or sub-cortical areas took part in the study. The patients underwent clinical bal… Show more

“…У неврологічній реабілітації використовується широкий спектр методів лікування та підходів з різних філософських підходів. Дослідження на підтримку різних підходів дуже різноманітні: велика кількість досліджень на підтримку використання деяких методів, тоді як інші підходи мають обмежені докази на підтримку їх використання, але покладаються на попередні докази [11,12,13].…”

“…Moving beyond whole-body movements as described above, there is a need to now identify and measure CNS function that controls two of the basic components of gait coordination. The first is the CNS control of balance coordination (single limb, double limb, and weight transfer) during walking (e.g., [ 64 ]). Understandably, balance during walking is less understood versus static standing balance or balance during gait initiation.…”
