The frequency of the EsD2 gene in the Danish sample (0.0992) is among the lowest reported for European populations [ Weismann et al, 1979]. The distribution of phenotypes in 1,111 mother/child pairs and in 59 families in cluding 157 children was determined (tables II, III).…”

“…A striking var iation was revealed of the frequencies of the two common alleles (EsD1 and EsD2) between different populations. The high est frequencies of the EsD2-gene were ob served in East-Asian populations [Cart wright et al, 1976;Ebeli-Struijk et al, 1976;Papiha and Nahar, 1977;Weismann et al, 1979], Several rare alleles were detected: EsD3 [Bender and Frank. 1974], EsD3N [Omoto et al, 1978], EsD3 1 [Suzuki et al, 1978], EsD4 [Berget al, 1976], EsDMa [Hitzeroth etal., 1976], EsD6[Rai7nwet al, 1980, and null alleles, EsD0 [Marks et al, 1977;Sparkes et al, 1979;Patschneider and Dirnhofer, 1979;Koziol and Stepien.…”
