Polymerization of aniline under various concentrations of APS and HCl

Abstract: Effects from various initial molar ratios of aniline (AN), ammonium peroxydisulfate (APS) and HCl ( [AN]: [APS]: [HCl]) on the polymerization of AN were investigated. First, a scheme derived from a molecular point of view was proposed to distinguish formation mechanisms based on their initial conditions. Thereafter, by choosing a relatively low ratio of Keywords: aniline; formation mechanism; phenazine-like oligomers; polyaniline INTRODUCTION Polyaniline (PANI) is one of the most important conducting and semi-… Show more

“…Out-of-plane C-H deformation vibrations of the aromatic ring were observed at 822 and 712 cm −1 [22]. These data agreed well with the results from other previous papers [23,24]. For zeolite X, there was a noteworthy change from 3463 to 3441 cm −1 , which was attributed to silicon-hydroxyl groups, while the bands at 1080 cm −1 and 1633 cm −1 belonged to the absorption of hydroxyl water and hydroxyl, respectively, by Si-OH [25].…”

“…However, there are still significant differences among these samples. The peaks at 2,930 and 2,850 cm −1 (ascribed to aromatic CH stretching vibrations on the methyl groups ) as well as the peak at 1,640 cm −1 (ascribed to phenazine‐like crosslinking structures ) are found only in pure P(2,3‐DMA) and P(2,3‐DMA)/PANI blend samples but not in P(2,3‐DMA)/PANI composite. Moreover, the peaks of P(2,3‐DMA)/PANI composite at 800 cm −1 , corresponding to the CH out‐of‐plane bending vibration of two adjacent hydrogen atoms on a 1,4‐disubstituted benzene ring , have apparently shifted to lower frequency in contrast to that of P(2,3‐DMA) (820 cm −1 ) and P(2,3‐DMA)/PANI blend (814 cm −1 ).…”
