ZUSAMMENFASSUNG :Bei der Untersuchung der Copolymerisation von Vinylacetat (Mi) und Crotonaldehyd (Mz) wurde festgestellt, daB mit steigendem Gehalt des letzteren in der Ausgangsmischung die Reaktionsgeschwindigkeit und das Molekulargewicht des Copolymeren stark abnehmen. Nach dem vorgeschlagenen Mechanismus verlauft die Copolymerisation unter Ubertragung der Kette durch das Monomere Mz. Die Copolymerisationskonstanten wurden zu rl = 2,5 f 0,3 und 1 2 = 0 0,2 ermittelt und die Wahrscheinlichkeiten zur Bildung der moglichen Bausteinfolgen berechnet. Die optimalen Bedingungen zur Herstellung eines Copolymeren mit gewunschten Eigenschaften, das sich als Triiger von Arzneimitteln mit verliingerter Wirkung eignet, werden angegeben. SUMMARY:In the study of the copolymerization of vinyl acetate (Mi) and croton aldehyde (Mz), it has been found that with the increasing content of the latter in the initial mixture, the reaction rate and the molecular weight of the copolymer strongly decrease. According to the proposed mechanism, the copolymerization proceeds with the chain transmitted through the monomer. The constants of copolymerization were established to be rl = 2.5 f 0.3 and rz = 0 f 0.2 and the probabilities for the formation of the various sequences were calculated. The optimum conditions have been defined for the preparation of a copolymer with desired properties, which would serve as a carrier of medicines with prolonged action.

SYNOPSISIn this study copolymerization of Turkish tall oil specimens with technical grade indenecoumarone fraction of coal-tar oils (bp 150-230°C) was investigated. The effects of temperature, the reaction time and reactant ratio on the reaction rate, and the composition of the resulting copolymer were determined. Based on these studies the optimal reaction conditions were established. Some main characteristics of these new type of tall oil/indenecoumarone copolymers were determined.
