Polymeric monolith column composited with multiwalled carbon nanotubes‐β‐cyclodextrin for the selective extraction of psoralen and isopsoralen

Abstract: A polymeric column that contains multiwalled carbon nanotubes-β-cyclodextrin composite was developed. The composite was wrapped into the poly(butyl methacrylate-ethylene dimethacrylate) monolith column (0.76 mm id and 10 cm in length). The column was then applied for the online solid-phase microextraction of psoralen and isopsoralen from Fructus Psoraleae. Following microextraction, the coumarins were quantified by high-performance liquid chromatography with C separation column and UV detection. The effects of… Show more

“…However, the research on CD-based monolithic material in DSPE was rare. All the CD-based monolithic materials in sample treatment were modified with native β-CD and then used as SPME adsorbents to extract only one or two drugs [25][26][27][28]. As mentioned, the procedure of SPME was time-consuming.…”

“…Hence, the obtained bulk polymerization can be applied only after a tedious and time consuming post‐treatment process of removing the template by soxhlet, crushing, grinding, drying, and further grinding to amorphous particles, which can destroy the binding sites, and reduce the selectivity and chromatographic performance . The development of MIP monoliths is an alternative approach that can overcome the shortcomings of conventional MIP packed columns .…”
