Polymeric Micelle Assembly for the Direct Synthesis of Platinum-Decorated Mesoporous TiO2 toward Highly Selective Sensing of Acetaldehyde

Abstract: Platinum-decorated mesoporous TiO2 is synthesized by the self-assembly of polymeric micelles of an asymmetric triblock copolymer with three chemically distinct units in an acidic tetrahydrofuran solution. The strong hydrophobic interaction of platinum(II) 2,4-pentanedionate with a polystyrene core and electrostatic interaction of titanium tetraisopropoxide with a poly(vinylpyridine) shell enable us to directly synthesize crystalline mesoporous TiO2 with platinum nanoparticles. A thermally stable block copolyme… Show more

“…The beauty of this approach is that the pore size and wall thickness can be easily tuned by changing the molecular weight of the block copolymer and precursor/polymer ratio, respectively 2022. Sol‐gel precursors of phosphosilicate comprise different molar ratios of inorganic precursors (H 3 PO 4 and TEOS).…”

“…The calcination process removed the PVBT template and transformed the amorphous TiO 2 framework into a highly crystalline anatase TiO 2 framework. We tested several different calcination temperatures to investigate their effects on the crystallinity and morphology of the final TiO 2 mesoporous structures . In general, low‐molecular‐weight block copolymers (e. g., Pluronic P‐123) burnt out at around 250 ° C which is much lower than the crystallization temperature of TiO 2 (ca.…”

“…Recently, the related materials have been reported by different groups. It would be better to cite some examples [68]. Even though these supported noble metal-based catalysts have shown high activities for carbon monoxide elimination, their further application has been limited due to difficulties in reuse, sintering at high temperature, and high cost [912].…”
