“…From Equation (10), we can extract that high oil concentration is desired for obtaining low SDI values. We hypothesised that NCC would act as a Pickering emulsion stabiliser [ 68 ], but this was not the case. In the concentrations we used, the function of NCC exhibits a negative effect on the droplet size distribution.…”

“…From this perspective, cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs) constitute an interesting brick material: they are biosourced, biodegradable, with a well-known structure, they offer an easily modifiable surface and possess interesting intrinsic mechanical properties (Young modulus of 150 GPa) 6 . It has been shown that CNCs could be used for the stabilization of Pickering emulsions 7 , and the polymerization of these emulsions was subsequently studied to produce polymer particles [8][9][10][11] . The stabilization and polymerization of CNC-stabilized oil-in-water (O/W) Pickering emulsions have been extensively studied, and both free and controlled radical polymerization 8,[12][13][14][15][16][17][18][19] were considered.…”

“…Zhang et al. [ 149 ] prepared polymeric hollow microcapsules (PHMs) from an O/W emulsion of styrene, toluene, and divinylbenzene (DVB). The emulsion was stabilized by unmodified CNCs with 5 mg mL −1 NaCl.…”
