“…They concluded that the overall heat‐transfer coefficients were comparable to the typical values of metallic falling film heat exchangers when tested at multiple‐effect distillation (MED) conditions. Some other researchers also found that the PHXs are cost saving in manufacture processes and heat‐transfer applications, which shows that the PHXs have good commercial application potentials in many aspects such as automotive radiators, electronic systems, heat recovery, evaporating and condensing applications, solar water heating, and water desalination process. Besides, the merits of easy of construction and manufacturing, low installation costs, ability to operate at high brine temperatures without fear of the effects of scale formation, use of acid cleaning, and virtual elimination of in‐leakage problems, and so forth are also included when using plastic heat exchangers.…”
