Nesting and use of pollen resources by Tetrapedia diversipes Klug (Apidae) in Atlantic Forest areas (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) in different stages of regeneration. The nesting in trap-nests and use of pollen sources in larval food by Tetrapedia diversipes Klug, 1810 (Apidae) was compared between regenerating areas of Atlantic Forest. The study was conducted between April 2008 and October 2009 at União Biological Reserve, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. T. diversipes nested in 66 trap-nests and showed a peak of nesting during the months of highest rainfall. The most frequent pollen type in brood cells during the wet season was Dalechampia sp. 1. During the dry season, the type Ludwigia sp. was the most frequent, followed by Dalechampia sp. 2. The high frequency of Dalechampia and Ludwigia species in the larval food, observed in both habitats and in the two seasons could be considered relevant for T. diversipes, suggesting highly selective diet based primarily on two plant species unrelated, but similar in size of pollen grains.
Nidificação e uso de fontes de pólen por Tetrapedia diversipes Klug (Apidae) em áreas de Mata Atlântica (Rio de Janeiro, Brasil) em diferentes estágios de regeneração. A nidificação em ninhos-armadilha e o uso de fontes de pólen no alimento larval por Tetrapedia diversipes Klug, 1810 (Apidae) foram comparados entre áreas de Floresta Atlântica em regeneração. O estudo foi realizado entre abril de 2008 e outubro de 2009 na Reserva Biológica União, Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. T. diversipes nidificou em 66 ninhos-armadilha e apresentou um pico de nidificação durante os meses de maior precipitação pluviométrica. O tipo polínico mais frequente nas células de cria durante a estação chuvosa foi Dalechampia sp. 1. Durante a estação seca, o tipo Ludwigia sp. foi o mais frequente, seguido de Dalechampia sp. 2. A alta frequência de espécies de Dalechampia e Ludwigia no alimento larval, observada em ambos os habitats e nas duas estações deve ser considerada um fato relevante para T. diversipes, sugerindo uma dieta altamente seletiva baseada primariamente em duas espécies vegetais não relacionadas, porém semelhantes quanto ao tamanho dos grãos de pólen

ABSTRACT. Collection activities and floral origin of the stored pollen in colonies of Plebeia saiqui (Holmberg) (Hymenoptera, Apidae, Meliponinae) in south Brazil. Four colonies of Plebeia saiqui (Holmberg, 1903), of Sao Francisco de Paula, were studied during the period from October/1998 to October/1999. The counting of the bees was proceeded monthly, differentiated workers that came back with and without pollen in the corbicula. Grains of pollen of pots previously marked were collected monthly and identified. The percentage of the pollen types of the samples was estimated: 20% of Asteraceae, 17% Myrtaceae, 15% type Meliaceae and 10% Euphorbiaceae. The remaining corresponds to other pollen types of small representation, besides those the were no identified. The climatic influence on the pollen collection was analyzed being used simp le and multiple regressions. It was verified that in the spring and in the summer the temperature, the solar irradiati on and relative humidity were significant for the pollen foraging. During autumn and winter the relative humidity had smaller influence in the pollen collection.

RESUMO(Grãos de pólen de angiospermas do Holoceno (7908±30 anos AP-atual) da Planície Costeira sul-catarinense, Brasil). Este trabalho apresenta as descrições palinotaxonômicas, a partir da análise palinológica de sedimentos de duas seções turfáceas na Planície Costeira sul do estado de Santa Catarina, nos municípios de Santa Rosa do Sul e São João do Sul. Uma amostra da porção basal dos testemunhos foi datada em ( 14 C) em 7908±33 anos AP para Santa Rosa do Sul e 7817±41 anos AP para São João do Sul, ambos referente ao Holoceno inferior. Foram descritos 62 tipos de grãos de pólen relacionados a 49 famílias de angiospermas atuais, que expressam diferentes habitats e hábitos ecoló-gicos. O presente trabalho juntamente com a primeira parte, que trata das descrições palinotaxonômicas de fungos, criptógamas e outros palinomorfos recuperados de sedimentos, contribui com o reconhecimento da vegetação que abrigava a Planície Costeira sul-catarinense, durante o Holoceno. As análises palinotaxonômicas constituem a base das interpretações paleoambientais e paleoclimáticas neste setor da costa brasileira. This paper presents palinotaxonomic descriptions, from a pollen analysis of sediments from two cores taken from the southern Coastal Plain of Santa Catarina State (in the municipalities of Santa Rosa do Sul and São João do Sul). A basal sample from the Santa Rosa do Sul and São João do Sul had a 14 C age of 7908±33 and 7817±41 yr BP for the Lower Holocene, respectively. Sixty-two types of pollen grains were described from 49 angiosperm families, which are associated with different habitats and ecological habits. This work is published in association with Part I, which comprises palinotaxonomic descriptions of fungi, cryptogams and other palynomorphs recovered from the sediments, and contributes to the identification of vegetation that occurred on the Coastal Plain of southern Santa Catarina during the Holocene. Palinotaxonomic analyses form the basis of paleoclimatic and paleoenvironmental interpretations in this region of the Brazilian coast.
