As mentioned in this book's introduction, Northeast Asian countries have been framing green growth and low-carbon development as a green industrial policy that is compatible with conventional export-led industrialization, with a special focus on renewable energy. Through this framing, they have hoped to garner multiple benefits: developing leading manufacturers in prominent industries around the world; increasing green jobs; enhancing the international competitiveness of their industries; reducing carbon emissions; and enhancing their energy security. This chapter summarizes the findings of the previous chapters and evaluates the Northeast Asian countries' achievements and remaining challenges, with a special focus on energy and trade. Then it explores how green growth, low-carbon development strategies can be applied beyond Northeast Asia.
