“…It has been shown that the mean haemoglobin level of a group of lead workers may not differ from that of a control group despite the excretion of considerable amounts of coproporphyrin in the urine of the lead workers (Waldron, 1964), and in the present study the mean haemoglobin levels of those groups of workers in whom haemoglobin was correlated with coproporphyrin, or with ALA and PBG, were 96-1% (SD 5-4) and 959% (SD 53) respectively, that is, normal values.
