Investigators at the University of North Carolina utilized normal dogs exposed to total body irradiation, chloroform, and carbon tetrachloride (Graham et ai., 1951;Penick et al, 1951), and hemophilic dogs (Grahamet ai., 1951), to show that factor VIII levels were not significantly affected by marrow failure and hepatotoxins.
