“…Moreover, preoperative adiponectin levels were found to be a useful predictor of postoperative infection [8]. Recently, plasma adiponectin levels have also been demonstrated to be useful for predicting survival after bypass surgery for peripheral arterial disease [16]. Furthermore, Uji et al [17] have reported that treatment with rosiglitazone suppresses sepsis-induced hepatic injury in association with increased plasma adiponectin levels.…”

“…33 Studies have demonstrated that many patients with advanced heart failure are malnourished, with a calorie and protein intake that is inadequate to meet their energy requirements. 33,34 Komai et al 35 reported that plasma adiponectin was negatively correlated with BMI, and high adiponectin levels were associated with an increased risk of death after peripheral vascular surgeries.…”

“…Plasma samples were obtained from each subject after overnight fasting of more than 11 hours and immediately frozen and stored at −80 ℃ until analysis. Plasma concentration of adiponectin was determined using a commercially available ELISA kit (Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd., Tokyo, Japan) 17) . Inter-and intra-assay coefficients of variation of this assay were 4.1% and 4.0%, respectively.…”
