Plant morphological characteristics and yield of potato cv. Ágata in function to fungicides application

Abstract: The study was conducted in the experimental area of the Department of Agronomy-Universidade Estadual do Centro Oeste-UNICENTRO, in Guarapuava-PR/ Brazil. The objective was to assess the additives effects of the fungicides methiram + pyraclotrobin on the plant development and cultivation of potatoes. We carried out the experiment in completely randomized design with five treatments and four repetitions, of which the T1 is the control with fluazinam, T2, T3, T4, T5 are treatments with different doses of methiram… Show more

“…The cultivar Ágata is characterized by Nivaa (2002) as a small cultivar, being that, including the portion located below the heap line, the length of the largest stem is less than 60 cm. According to Lopes et al (2013), the Ágata potato had continuous growth of the stem until 78 DAP, stabilizing later, with the average of the largest stem being 50 cm. Bregagnoli and Minami (2005), studying the potato culture, observed in the cultivars Atlantic, Asterix and Lady Rosetta, a height of 45.2 cm in the plants at 45 DAP, when supplied 1000 kg ha -1 of the fertilizer 4-14- Growth and productivity of Ágata potato cultivar under different doses of organomineral fertilizer 08.…”

“…Irrespective of shape and size of leaf, Leaf Area index (LAI) has been defined as the area of green leaves per unit area of the ground (Jonckeere, 2004), a higher and lower value of LAI indicating a denser and sparse crop canopy, respectively (Boken and Chandra, 2012). LAI is a stage of genotype and its growing condition specific (Lopes et al, 2013). In potato, LAI ranged from 1.40 (Dakchip) to 6.60 (Pungo), where the maximum LAI recorded at 61 DAP (Monalisa) (Nunes et al, 2006).…”

“…Both the consumer, and the processing industry demand potato tubers with an appropriate shape and weight. Tuber deformations are defects that affect the quality of the crop intended for sale, and may reduce the farmer's profit from potato farming (Nowacki, 2015;2016;Mozolewski et al, 2014;Zgórska, 2013, Lopes et al, 2013. The reasons for the formation of defects in potato tubers are mainly pathological changes occurring during the growing season and storage.…”
