Wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) are known to be one of the most energy-intensive industrial sectors. In this work, demand response was applied to the biological phase of wastewater treatment to reduce plant electricity cost, considering that the daily peak in flowrate typically coincides with the maximum electricity price. Compressed air storage system, composed of a compressor and an air storage tank, was proposed to allow energy cost reduction. A multi-objective modelling approach was applied by analyzing different scenarios (with and without anaerobic digestion, AD), considering both plant characteristics (in terms of treated flowrate and influent chemical oxygen demand, COD, concentration) and storage system properties (volume, air pressure), together with the current Italian market economic conditions. The results highlight that air tank volume has a strong positive influence on the obtainable economic savings, with a less significant impact held by air pressure, COD concentration and flowrate. In addition, biogas exploitation from AD led to an improvement in economic indices. The developed model is highly flexible and can be applied to different WWTPs and market conditions.

Статья посвящена исследованию индустриальных парков как опорных точек экономического каркаса инновационного развития территорий.В качестве методологической основы исследования использованы в комплексе системный, синергетический, институциональный, эволюционный, эндогенный подходы. В качестве теоретической базы работы выступили концепция экономического каркаса региона, концепция интеграционного развития промышленности, неоиндустриальная парадигма экономического развития. Методический аппарат статьи представлен методами анализа, синтеза, абстрагирования, логического обобщения.Целью работы является определение лимитирующих факторов и приоритетных направлений развития индустриальных парков для обеспечения позитивной инновационной динамики, повышения эффективности деятельности промышленных компаний и социально-экономического развития региональных хозяйственных систем.Результаты работы: дана характеристика индустриальных парков и их роли как опорных точек экономического каркаса инновационного развития территорий; эмпирически проиллюстрированы низкие результаты инновационной деятельности в отечественной экономике; раскрыты причины ограниченной результативности и определены предпосылки успешного развития индустриальных парков в России; обоснована целесообразность создания «умных индустриальных парков».Выводы: потенциально высокая эффективность индустриальных парков в контексте обеспечения стимулов для инновационного развития территорий и выстраивания устойчивого экономического каркаса пока не получила достаточной реализации в современных российских условиях. В настоящее время развитие индустриальных парков должно быть связано не только с повышением обоснованности их создания на региональном уровне и формированием эффективной системы менеджмента на уровне хозяйствующих субъектов, но и учетом мировых технологических трендов и особенностей развития аналогичных структур, проявляющихся в усилении роли информационного обмена, распространении моделей «умных» и экоиндустриальных парков».Область применения результатов: результаты исследования могут быть использованы при обосновании приоритетов и мер государственной инновационной, пространственной и промышленной политики, разработке концепций, стратегий и программ развития индустриальных парков на мезо- и микроуровне в условиях цифровизации экономики.

Analysis of energy systems for poly-generation using optimization modelling: the optimization process strategies and the formalization of an innovative multi-objective optimization model

The purpose of this paper is to describe the numerical modelling processes and optimization strategies of energy systems and to formalize an innovative optimization model for poly-generation systems. The model uses a multi-objective optimization approach, by means of three optimization functions: one of an economic nature, one technical and one relating to polluting emissions. The constraint equations of the problem, the boundary conditions and the input values, as well as some dimensionless parameters are described. In addition to a complete approach, the article proposes innovative aspects based on the studies in the literature, both from a technological and economic-regulatory standpoint. For each proposed innovation, an analysis of how this can influence the optimization model is presented and various types of optimization models have been evaluated, depending on the complexity of the physical system and the consequent numeric modelling.
