Pile Foundations: Installation

Abstract: Pile foundations for offshore structures can be installed in different ways, with this article focusing on two main pile types: (i) driven; and (ii) drilled and grouted. An overview of simplified mechanics‐based concepts for issues affecting analysis of pile installation is provided. For driven piles, the concepts considered include soil resistance to driving, dynamic soil models, and pile damage.
