Physiological and ecological characteristics of Periploca sepium Bunge under drought stress on shell sand in the Yellow River Delta of China

Abstract: Bin cao 2 this study investigated the physiological and ecological changes in P. sepium Bunge and elucidated the physiological regulatory mechanisms underlying the adaptation of P. sepium to drought stress in shell sand. Drought stress led to a significant decrease in the net photosynthesis rate (P n) and respiration rate of leaves and a decrease in low-intensity light-use efficiency (LUE) and light ecological amplitude. An increase in drought stress led to a considerable decrease in the photosynthetic electro… Show more

“…As a zinc sensitive crop, maize is signi cantly affected by zinc, and the difference between concentration gradients is signi cant. Low concentration of zinc promotes growth, high concentration inhibits growth, and medium concentration is in a transition state (Wang 2008). In addition to the toxic effects on crops themselves, the most important thing is that these crops accumulate in the human body through the food chain after being consumed by humans, which can cause serious health and safety issues (Nordberg 2009).…”

“…can be considered as phytostabilization material. Erigeron annuus (L.) Pers [49], Periploca sepium Bunge [50] are common weeds with strong vitality, which have strong adaptability to soil environmental stress. Once settled, they can quickly cover the surface, form dense roots underground, and improve the surrounding habitat.…”
