Physicochemical Study and Quantitative Analysis Swarna Makshika Bhasma.

Abstract: Swarnamakshika is grouped under Updhatu of Swarna and is composed of Copper, Iron and Sulphur. In this study Swarnamakshika was subjected to Shodhana by Bharjana with Nimbuka swarasa and Shudha Swarnamakshika was given Bhavana with Nimbuka swarasa and subjected to Varahaputa. With ten Varahaputa Bhasma Siddhi Lakshanas were attained swarnamakshika Marana was done by using Nimbuka swarasa until bhasma siddi lakshanas found and it took 10 puta till it attained reddish brown color. The X-ray diffraction analysis … Show more

“…By Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) chemical bonds will be identified in MSP and MSB [23]. With the help of X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) the crystalline structures of the molecule will be recognized in both the samples that are MSP and MSB [24]. GC-MS technique will be used to analyze complex organic and biochemical mixtures between MSP and MSB [25].…”

“…[14,15] Field emission scanning electron microscopy with EDX (FESEM-EDS) was also used in quantitative analysis of Swarna Makshika Bhasma and Rajat Bhasma. [16,17] SEM-EDX analysis along with pharmacodynamics study of any mineral compound can provide the accurate estimation of bioavailability as well as safety dose estimation of study compound. [18,19] SEM-EDX quantitative and qualitative analysis is also useful to maintain the inherent quality of the ancient Indian system of medicine.…”

“…Ayurveda provides a list of tests for the efficacy of the bhasmikarana process. The tests are essentially qualitative and ensure that the Resulting drug is very fine (small grains), has no metallic shine and does not alloy with silver even at higher temperature to which it was subjected (4)(5)(6)(7) . However, these qualitative tests do not provide any quantitative information about the composition and the structure of the final drug.…”

“…The Ayurvedic Bhasma is checked for impurities and high quality using the Results of the physicochemical examination. Researchers looking into the effectiveness of Ayurvedic Bhasma and its possible applications in treating a range of illnesses should find this information to be very useful (6) .…”
