“…Rh. mucilaginosa has been associated with the phylloplane (Fonseca and Inácio, 2006) and can be a coloniser of the surface of grapes. Wickerhamomyces anomalus and M. guilliermondi have been isolated from grape must and winemaking equipment (Barrajón et al , 2009; Kurtzman et al , 2011; Settanni et al , 2012).…”

“…Our NJ tree showed that the yeast isolates are phylogenetically diverse and distributed in the phylaof Ascomycota and Basidiomycota. Fonseca and Inácio (2006) Inácio et al (2005) reported that the yeast isolates from the leaves collected at the Arrabida natural Park (Portugal), were mostly of the phylum Basidiomycota in the class Tremellomycetes. In our study, the phylogenetic tree constructed from rDNA-ITS sequencing showed that the yeasts from classes Saccharomycetes and Tremellomycetes were found from all sampling locations (Figures 2-5).…”

“…Yeasts play roles in many complex processes of various ecosystems such as plant tissues (stems, flowers, and fruits); insects; soils; aquatic environments; and extreme environments (Fonseca and Inácio, 2006;Raspor and Zupan, 2006;Botha, 2011). Industrial attributes of yeasts include the primary roles they play in many food fermentations yielding beers, ciders, wines, sake, distilled spirits, bakery products, industrial enzymes, and agricultural products (Deak, 2009;Tamang and Fleet, 2009).…”
