“…() verified results for the period between 2007 and 2012 and found an annual average solar radiation of 1,502.07 kWh/m 2 /year. Santos and Rüther (), working in the city of Florianópolis, Santa Catarina (SC), verified an annual average solar radiation of 1,550 kWh/m 2 /year, although this represents a smaller potential than obtained in the state of Paraná, which presented values ranging from 1,600 to 2,200 kWh/m 2 /year (Tiepolo et al., ).…”

“…The costs of purchasing a photovoltaic system are, of course, relevant factors in the decision to install a system (Goldemberg & Paletta, ). Tiepolo, Urbanetz, Canciclieri, and Viana () confirm that with the increase in the number of installations of photovoltaic systems in Brazil, which initially applied only to universities and research centers, there has been a reduction in the costs of purchasing these systems of approximately 40% between 1996 and 2006, reaching 60% between 2009 and 2011. According to a study conducted by the Enterprises of Energetic Inquiry (), which covers the period from 2010 to 2023, the cost per residential watt‐peak (Wp) installed in Brazil fell from US$ 2.08/Wp in the first year (2010) to US$ 1.70/Wp in 2015, with the final projection expected to reach the price of US$ 1.11/Wp in 2023.…”

“…The average annual irradiation in Brazil varies between 1200 and 2400 kWh/m 2 /year, which is above the European average [35,36]. Yet, the country's installed capacity for photovoltaic energy generation is lower than other countries [37,38].…”
