Photonic Gateway and Protocol-Independent End-to-End Optical-Connection Provisioning in All-Photonic Metro-Access Converged Network

Abstract: The All-Photonics Metro-Access Converged Network (APN) aims to achieve a flat and simple architecture that even covers access areas and represents the evolution of optical transport. Electrical processing functions such as exchange, multiplexing, and switching are uniformly placed at the border of the network segments, i.e., access, metro, and core networks, in current optical networks. These functions are placed in Data Centric Infrastructure (DCI) and accessed only when needed in the APN. By flexibly providi… Show more

“…A white LED illuminator emits incoherent light with a power spread across the visible light spectrum in the specified range from 380nm to 780nm. In [46], the suggested open All-Photonic Network (APN) could facilitate data processing and transfer while realizing an infrastructure with high capacity, low power consumption, and low latency. For instance, it allows low latency service by enabling a direct end-to-end optical link connection across domains between points or any user terminals with low photoelectric conversion.…”
