Photoluminescence studies of Ce3+ ion‐doped BiPO4 phosphor and its photocatalytic activity

Abstract: Ce 3+ ion doped BiPO 4 phosphors were synthesized by co-precipitation method using ethylene glycol as capping agent. The prepared phosphors were characterized by XRD, SEM, FT-IR, UV-Vis, and PL spectroscopy techniques. The formation of monoclinic phase was confirmed from XRD and FT-IR studies. SEM study revealed the rice shape morphology of BiPO 4 :Ce 3+ (7at.%). In the photoluminescence analysis, a broad emission band extending in a wide wavelengths range with maxima around 419 and 470 nm was observed under e… Show more

“…The energy-hungry free radicals break down the dye Rhodamine B. [56][57][58][59][60][61]64] A greater repelling from the surface product, referred to as the "lotus effect, " is provided by the inclusion of carbon produced from lotus fibre and leaf extract for the reduction. The AC developed from lotus fibre is a unique support in this aspect characterisation the lotus fibre mediated activated carbon is under study.…”

“…These graphs demonstrate that the prepared sample had a low monoclinic phase following the requirements of the standard JCPDS card number 15-0767. Impurities in the sample may be the cause of the peak at 2θ degrees in the diffraction pattern of the 7at.% Pr 3+ -doped BiPO 4 sample (17) . Because it is difficult to see the monoclinic phase in the high-temperature annealed sample, no impurity peak was seen.…”

“…Photocatalytic activity of the prepared SAOs was higher than TiO 2 photocatalyst due to higher photosensitivity and lower band‐gap of the SAOs compared to TiO 2 . Thus, several phosphors have been used as effective photocatalysts for degradation of different types of pollutants (Eun et al, 2021; Li et al, 2012; Ma et al, 2013; Naorem et al, 2020). In fact, the phosphors are known as luminescence‐assisted photocatalysts which use their long afterglow as a light source to carry out the photocatalytic reaction (Li et al, 2012).…”
