Photogrammetric Techniques for Road Surface Analysis

Abstract: ABSTRACT:The quality and condition of a road surface is of great importance for convenience and safety of driving. So the investigations of the behaviour of road materials in laboratory conditions and monitoring of existing roads are widely fulfilled for controlling a geometric parameters and detecting defects in the road surface. Photogrammetry as accurate non-contact measuring method provides powerful means for solving different tasks in road surface reconstruction and analysis. The range of dimensions conce… Show more

“…Especially, drone photogrammetry became a popular solution for road damage detection due to their ease of use and versatility. Knyaz et al (2016) applied photogrammetric methods to measure road surface and reconstruct the 3D model for road surface management. Díaz-Vilariño el al (2016) found that photogrammetry using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) could achieve good accuracy and affordable cost for road runoff evaluation.…”

“…Textured surface 3D models of paleoanthropological objects were obtained using an original photogrammetric system developed in the State Research Institute of Aviation System [Kny16]. For purposes of paleoanthropological analysis 3D models of paleoanthropological objects have to be of high geometric accuracy and of high resolution (detailing).…”
