Photoelectron spectroscopy of heterocycles: Ortho-disubstituted quinoxalines

Abstract: The photoelectron (PE) spectra of some ortho-disubstituted quinoxalines were measured and assigned mainly on the basis of HAM/3, INDO, and CNDO MO calculations. In the case of cNoro derivatives, the given assignment takes also into account the arguments based on a comparison of HeIUHeI intensities.

“…On resonance the metastable state is depopulated by pumping it into the ground state and the decreased population is probed by state selective ionization in a second gas cell. Recording the ratio of ions and atoms as a function of Doppler-tuning voltage results in spectra like the one shown on the bottom for 28 Ne. This spectrum was taken with a yield of only 50 atoms per proton pulse at ISOLDE, i.e., about 25 atoms/s.…”

“…The available beam energies are from about 400 MeV/u-typical injection energy-down to about 4 MeV/u. The latter is the extraction energy towards the external HI-TRAP setup [28]. Stored and cooled exotic beams in the energy range of a few MeV/u will also be available once the storage ring project [29] at ISOLDE [30] at CERN, Geneva is realised.…”
