Occupational allergic contact dermatitis from tetrazepam in nurses

“…In the literature, we found only two case reports regarding a positive patch test to diazepam in patients with cutaneous reaction to tetrazepam (1, 8): the first patient was suffering from an occupational contact dermatitis and also had to crush tablets containing diazepam; the second case reported a maculopapular eruption after ingestion of tetrazepam tablets and denied previous intake of diazepam. In several other reports (2, 4, 11, 12, 14–20), patch tests (and oral provocation tests) with diazepam remained negative, which was also the case in our patients, as diazepam (Valium ® crushed tablet 30% pet. or diazepam pure substance 10% pet.)…”

No cross‐reactions between tetrazepam and other benzodiazepines: a possible chemical explanation

Only one patient (8) of 24 studied developed a positive patch test to diazepam, and there were no positive reactions to other benzodiazepines.…”

Airborne contact dermatitis to tetrazepam in geriatric nurses – a report of 10 cases

“…After systemic administration of tetrazepam, primarily maculopapular exanthems have been reported in the literature 2–8 . Less frequently, Stevens Johnson syndrome, 6–8,11 toxic epidermal necrolysis, 12,13 erythema multiforme 7,14 and photodermatitis/phototoxicity 15,16 were linked to tetrazepam intake. In addition, there are individual case reports of acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis (AGEP), 17 fixed drug eruption 8 and drug rash with eosinophilia (DRESS) 18 described.…”
