Photocross-linking of glycerol diglycidyl ether with reactive diluents

Abstract: Cross-linked polymers are obtained by photopolymerization of glycerol diglycidyl ether with different reactive diluents (3,4-epoxycyclohexylmethyl-3,4-epoxycyclohexane carboxylate, 1,4-cyclohexane dimethanol diglycidyl ether, bisphenol A diglycidyl ether, trimethylolpropane triglycidyl ether, and bis[4-(glycidyloxy)phenyl]methane) using the mixture of triarylsulfonium hexafluoroantimonates as photoinitiator. The changes of rheological properties are examined during the UV curing for the batches of glycerol dig… Show more

“…GDE has good adhesion as well as good thermomechanical properties. This cross-linking compound is proposed for use in the synthesis of epoxy materials that can be applied in biodegradable materials [ 31 , 32 ]. The phenolic OH groups in naringenin can readily react with the epoxy groups in the GDE cross-linking agent.…”

“…Glycerol diglycidyl ether is derived from glycerol which is a renewable raw material that can be produced from fats and oils [32] . Currently, glycerol and its derivatives are used for various applications such in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, as sweetener in cakes and candies, or can be chemically modified and used as monomer in the polymer synthesis [33–38] …”

“…[32] Currently, glycerol and its derivatives are used for various applications such in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, as sweetener in cakes and candies, or can be chemically modified and used as monomer in the polymer synthesis. [33][34][35][36][37][38] These results are promising, and in order to be used as sustainable alternatives, the exact composition and structure of humins must be determined. [8] From an industrial point of view, it is important to find a tool that is able to classify humins samples according to their origin in order to predict their behavior towards an application.…”
