Background: Previous studies need to be aggregated and updated. We aim to assess the efficacy of laser acupuncture (LA) in knee osteoarthritis (OA) through a meta-analysis. Methods: Electronic databases were searched for studies investigating laser acupuncture’s efficacy in managing OA. Data were collected from the beginning of each database to 2022 (up to March). The “WOMAC total score,” “WOMAC stiffness score,” “WOMAC pain score,” “WOMAC physical function score,” and “VAS score” were the key outcomes of interest. The Der Simonian-Laird method for random effects was used. Results: Twenty-five randomized controlled clinical trials met our criteria and were included (2075 patients). Comparisons of interest is the LA versus Sham LA (efficacy), LA versus. A (Acupuncture) (comparative effectiveness), LA combined with A versus A (effectiveness as an adjunct), and any other research used LA in their treatment. Laser irradiation is effective in patients with Knee OA. LA is also effective and has almost the same outcome as laser irradiation. LA can achieve almost the same effect as manual acupuncture, even better than acupuncture in some studies. Conclusion: Laser acupuncture is more or less effective in patients with OA; better efficacy will be achieved under appropriate laser parameters (810 nm, 785 nm) in the LA versus Sham LA group. Many studies have diverse results, possibly due to unstaged analysis of patients’ disease, inappropriate selection of acupoints, lack of remote combined acupoints, and unreasonable laser parameters. Furthermore, a combination of acupoints was found to be more effective, which aligns with the combined-acupoints application of traditional Chinese medicine.

Latar Belakang : Masalah pada persalinan sectio caesarea memiliki nyeri lebih tinggi sekitar 27,3% dibandingkan persalinan normal hanya 9%. Nyeri pengalaman sensorik dan emosional yang tidak menyenangkan akibat kerusakan jaringan yang persepsi nyerinya bersifat sangat subyektif. Tujuan: Membandingkan masalah nyeri pada kedua pasien Post Sectio Caesarea dengan teknik relaksasi nafas dalam dan aromaterapi lavender. Metode: Jenis penelitian deskriptif analitik dengan pendekatan studi kasus untuk mengeksplorasi asuhan keperawatan pasien post sectio caserea dengan teknik relaksasi nafas dalam dan aromaterapi lavender. Subjek studi kasus dua pasien dengan inisial Ny.E berusia 26 tahun, dan Ny.K berusia 25 tahun. Asuhan keperawatan dilakukan pada salah satu rumah sakit swasta Palembang, serta proses pengambilan asuhan keperawatan tanggal 05−07 April 2021. Hasil: Pengkajian didapatkan pada Ny. E skala nyeri 6, sedangkan Ny. K skala nyeri 7, kedua pasien menyatakan nyeri bertambah parah ketika bergerak. Intervensi berfokus utama diagnosis nyeri memiliki tujuan nyeri menurun. Pemberian implementasi tidak terdapat perbedaan pada kedua pasien, hasil evaluasi pada Ny. E dan Ny. K dapat menurunkan skala nyeri. Saran: diharapkan menerapkan teknik relaksasi nafas dalam disertai aromaterapi lavender pada pasien post sectio caesarea serta dikembangkan lagi dan menjadi pembelajaran untuk penelitian selanjutnya.

Background/Aims Young women in Indonesia who experience an unwanted pregnancy may not have the necessary support to make an informed decision about whether to continue with or terminate the pregnancy. The aim of this study was to determine factors that influence the decision to terminate or continue with an unwanted pregnancy among women aged 15–24 years old in Indonesia. Methods Data from the 2017 Indonesian demographic and health survey were used. These data included 9218 women aged 15–24 years from eight regions in Indonesia. Chi-squared tests and binary and multivariable logistic regression were used to analyse the data. Results Almost 20% of women in Indonesia decided to terminate an unwanted pregnancy, and 25% experienced physical partner violence. Respondents who lived in Sulawesi, had primary education, lived in a rural area or had experienced physical partner violence were more likely terminate an unwanted pregnancy. Respondents who had a higher economic status were less likely terminate. Conclusions The decision to terminate a pregnancy may be more likely to be made by women under certain circumstances. Programmes for pregnant women involving counselling should be initiated via cross-collaboration with government, parents and healthcare workers, to provide support for decision making in the case of an unwanted pregnancy.
