Photo-Driven Syngas Conversion to Lower Olefins over Oxygen-Decorated Fe5C2 Catalyst

Abstract: With the depletion of crude oil and especially the growing demand for lower olefins, the FTO process is a promising alternative for the petroleum route. In this work, a photo-driven FTO process was realized over Fe 5 C 2 catalyst under photoirradiation. The unique slight oxygen-modulated Fe 5 C 2 structure formed in situ under the photo-irradiation condition, resulting in high selectivity to olefins, making it an excellent catalyst in photo-driven FTO reaction. SUMMARYWith the depletion of crude oil and especi… Show more

“…Compared to the traditional thermal catalytic process, photodriven CO x transformation provides a sustainable approach to harvest the most abundant energy in nature to obtain desired fuels and chemicals . Recently, a novel photodriven Fischer–Tropsch to olefins (FTO) process was realized over Fe 5 C 2 catalyst, which showed an olefin/paraffin (o/p) ratio of 10.9 under the CO conversion of ≈49% as well as low CO 2 selectivity (18.9%) ( Figure a) . Significantly different product distributions were observed under photodriven and thermal reactions.…”
